Mt. Kailash Manasarovar Tour

Mt. Kailash, situated in the far west of Tibetan plateau in China is considered the most holy mountain on the planet. According to Hindu mythology Lord Shiva dwells at the summit of Mt. Kailash It is the perfect mountain with awesome beauty, with four great faces. It is the spiritual destination for devotees and pilgrims belonging to four different religious faiths: Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism and the pre-Buddhist animistic religious Bonpo.

According to Hindu mythology there live Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati on the top of Mt. Kailash. To Tibetans it is regarded as Khang Rimpoche which means precious jewel of snow and they see it as the center of the whole world. For Tibetans it is believed that Mt. Kailash is a special place where their poet saint Milerapa had spent several years meditating in a cave. For the Jains, one of the Indian religious groups, Kailash is the site where its founder Shanrab is said to have descended from heaven.  It was formerly the spiritual center of Zhang Zing, the ancient Bon Empire that once included all of the western Tibet. Bon pilgrims walk around the mountain in a center clockwise manner, unlike the other religious groups.

Over the centuries pilgrims have constantly visited Mt. Kailash to achieve enlightenment or cleanse themselves of sin by taking a holy dip in the very cold water of Lake Mansarovar.

Hindus walk around the 32 mile circumference of Mount Kailash in order to wipe away all sins and achieve salvation. The source of four great holy rivers: The Indus, the Brahamaputra, the Karnali & the Sutlej originate from Mt. Kailash

About Mansarovar Lake:
After walking 18 miles southeast of Mt. Kailash there exists the placid blue circular lake Mansarovar. It looks unbelievably fascinating on moonlit nights when an ethereal ambience pervades the atmosphere. Bathing in the freezing cold water of the lake which is said to be contained miraculous power is considered to be of massive spiritual benefit.
